Just watched Origin: Spirits of the Past earlier today. Is it just me, or did Gonzo drop the ball on this one?

The plot was interesting, but it was one of those epic things that can't possibly be fleshed out right in an hour and a half of screen-time. Needless to say, the film is about that long. It honestly would have been much more interesting as a mid or even full length series, rather than a movie.

The characters suffered from the same problem. If you know the industry stock characters you can understand whats gong on, but some real development to sink ones teeth into would be nice.

Other than those gripes, its pretty much like a Miazaki film, which is nice. Beautiful background work and animation, and a bit of weirdness for fun.

If anyone is actually interested, I'll dig up the torrent, which was hell to find. It's in english, with english subs.(I still can't figure why)

In writing news, not much is happening. The next chapter of Hokage's promise is still stone-walled, but a Naruto-Bleach crossover that i haven't seen tried before is coming along nicely.

No less than four Harry Potter ideas are floating around in my head, none of which will sit still long enough to be written.
